National Guard & Reserve Deployment Information

Future Enrollment Information

 Students serving in the National Guard and Reserve are encouraged to notify NDSU when they are called to active duty. Please contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Old Main 100 [701-231-7701 or 1-800-742-4019] prior to leaving campus. The following information is provided to assist these students activated.

Withdrawing Procedures
Students wishing to withdraw may do so in person or in writing through the Business Office, Old Main 101 [231-7545] with the required student's signature. To receive a 100% refund a copy of the activation orders is required. Students receiving veterans's benefits should contact the VA Certifying Official, Office of Registration and Records prior to dropping a portion of their semester credits.

Graduate students are encouraged to contact the Graduate School before leaving campus for information on leave of absence procedures for their degree program.

The NDSU faculty is encouraged to provide a reasonable accommodation to students who have been called for National Guard or Reserve mobilization duty for completing their semester course work. The State Board of Higher Education Policy 510 Rights of Students Called to Active Military Service was approved November 2002.

Residence Life
Students who live in the residence halls or university apartments should
contact the Residence Life Office [231-7557 or 1-800-572-8840] to
coordinate the withdrawal process. If after 5:00 p.m., please contact the
hall staff or any complex manager for assistance.

Students in the residence halls will be refunded all remaining room and
board costs. This amount is prorated using the daily rate for housing and
dining. The intent is to accommodate these students and they will only pay for the time they were living in the halls and eating at the dining centers.

National Guard & Reserve students with families living in the university
student apartments are asked to notify the Residence Life Office that they
have been activated. If the family wishes, they may remain in the
University apartment.

In order to forward mail, the Residence Life Office would like the student
to leave forwarding address [a family member, parent, and guardian].

Financial Aid
Any financial aid questions regarding loan deferment, satisfactory progress, etc. may be directed to the Office of Student Financial Services [701-231-8397] NDSU.Financial.Aid@ndsu.nodak.edu.

Montgomery G.I. Bill
Students receiving the Montgomery G.I. Bill should notify the US Treasury [1-888-442-4551]of their permanent address to avoid checks being returned to the US Treasury. The US Treasury will not forward these checks. Also, any correspondence from the VA will be sent to this permanent address. Please notify your Power of Attorney representative to respond to any correspondence from the VA.

Books
Up to one month after the date of the activation orders, you may request for withdrawn class(es) a 100% refund for the textbook(s) purchased at the Varsity Mart. A copy of the activation orders or verification from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs will be required. For ease of processing, students should bring a receipt to the Varsity Mart.

Parking Permits
To receive a full refund for the current Semester, return the parking permit to Campus Police, Thorsen Maintenance.

Forwarding Address
Students should verify a permanent address through Campus Connections in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs or the Office of Registration & Records.

E-Mail
Students who wish to keep their NDSU e-mail account active must notify the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Students are responsible to follow NDSU computing policies and procedures.
